Where Hope Meets Higher Education

what is it
The Ibyiringiro Scholars Fund—named after the Kinyarwanda word for hope—provides tuition scholarships to Rwanda’s most promising university students facing extreme financial need.
This fund is more than a scholarship; it’s a lifeline of opportunity and a bridge to a brighter future.

why it matters
- Many brilliant students at Kigali University are accepted but unable to afford tuition.
- Education creates sustainable futures, stronger families, and better communities.
- By supporting students today, we are shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
Hope is the passport to a future we believe in -
but education is the key that unlocks it.
~Enock Junior, Rwanda Operations Director, Hope Springs Africa

our historical role

Hope Springs Africa is honored to be the first U.S.-based partner to provide scholarships at Kigali University—joining only six institutions in Europe and one in Canada.
This partnership places us at the forefront of international impact in Rwanda.

A shared vision for education. A step forward for future scholars.
our scholarship structure
Kigali University operates on a two-semester academic year:
- Semester 1: September – February
- Semester 2: March – July
Each student typically completes 4–5 academic modules per semester, with tuition and books needed at the start of each term.
That’s why a $500 gift covers one full semester, and a $1,000 gift sponsors a student for the entire academic year—including books and materials.

how you can help
- $500 covers one semester of tuition
- $1,000 sponsors a full academic year
- Monthly and legacy gifts create long-term sustainability
- Every donation is a direct investment in a student’s future

“Your gift does more than pay tuition—
it plants hope in the heart of a future leader.”
